Acceleration Values Community Involvement

Community works

Acceleration Works through Team building and charity.  On April 24th Acceleration associates participated in a teambuilding activity by combining two of their passions:  friendly internal competition and benefitting the local community.  Associates prepared 5,000 bags for distribution on May 12 by local US Postal workers to Kansas City Metro area residents as part of the Harvester’s Food Bank, Help Stamp Out Hunger food drive.  Competitive teams earned prizes for the team that prepared the most bags for distribution.   http://www.helpstampouthunger.com

Acceleration Associates formed a team for The Trolley Run benefitting the Children’s Center for the Visually impaired on April 29.  Although it was a cold, rainy day, the Acceleration team pounded the course and kept warm to the finish line for the cause.

Mo. Governor Jay Nixon Visits Acceleration on tour of MOSIRA Bill

Gov. Jay Nixon tours labs at Acceleration Laboratory Services, 2634 N.E. Hagan Rd., in Lee’s Summit Thursday afternoon. Nixon visited the Lee’s Summit company to call for the passage of the Made in Missouri Jobs package by the Missouri House of Representatives. The Senate passed the bill Wednesday. “Groups like this,” Nixon said gesturing to the Acceleration facility behind him, “young companies moving forward and competing globally right here in Lee’s Summit, that’s the basis for Missouri’s economic future.” Acceleration Laboratory Services is a research company that serves clients in the pharmaceutical, animal health and life sciences industries.

The Made in Missouri Jobs Package pending in the General Assembly will create jobs, expand exports and grow the economy, Gov. Jay Nixon said Thursday in a visit to Acceleration Laboratory Services in Lee’s Summit. On Wednesday, the Missouri Senate overwhelmingly passed the bill in a strong, bipartisan vote on Wednesday.

“Just yesterday, the Missouri Senate passed two bipartisan bills to create jobs, keep our fiscal house in order, and grow our economy,” said Nixon. “Now it’s time for the House to take the next step by sending a Made in Missouri Jobs Package to my desk. Working together we must ensure that Missouri has the resources available to encourage innovation, increase Missouri exports and create jobs.”

Acceleration Laboratory Services is an independent, FDA-inspected contract development and research organization headquartered in Lee’s Summit. The company serves clients in the pharmaceutical, animal health, and other life sciences industries. In 2008, Acceleration Laboratory Services topped the Ingram’s Corporate Report 100, a list of the fastest-growing businesses in the Kansas City area.

“The Made in Missouri Jobs Package will encourage the growth of cutting-edge science and technology companies such as Acceleration in Missouri,” Gov. Nixon said. “Investment in these industries and in expanding foreign markets for Missouri products will provide good jobs and keep our economy moving forward.”

Gov. Nixon called a special session of the General Assembly in order to pass a bipartisan jobs package that will foster growth in science and technology industries and expand Missouri exports, along with passing tax credit reform legislation to pay for these additional investments and ensure continued fiscal responsibility.

Some of the key components of the Made in Missouri Jobs Package legislation include:

- The Missouri Science and Innovation Reinvestment Act, or MOSIRA, which is designed to spark economic growth in essential, next-generation scientific and technology industries. The Governor said Missouri has a tremendous legacy of innovation and invention, and that passing MOSIRA will help that legacy continue;

- Investment in foreign trade to help Missouri companies find new customers on other continents, including the development of an export hub in the state; and -Paying for these major economic investments with tax credit reform, to ensure that Missouri continues to do business in a way that maintains strict fiscal discipline, protects the state’s spotless AAA credit rating, and provides the resources necessary to protect vital programs and services.

Charitable Giving on Fast Track at Acceleration Laboratory Services, Inc.

Acceleration Laboratory Services, Inc., is proud to have been recognized by the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation for our Community Committee and Corporate Social Responsibility Platform.

Charitable giving, says general manager Brent Taylor, is key to their corporate identity. “The company was founded in 2003 on the principles of the late Ewing Kauffman, esteemed entrepreneur and humanitarian.”

With those key missions in mind, Acceleration Laboratory Services employees are offered paid time off to attend to their charitable organizations as board and committee members as well as volunteers.

The Community Committee has fun cooking up projects, like pumpkin carving, that benefit a charity. But they’re serious when it comes to giving their charitable dollars where they can make the biggest impact, says Gary Schmitt, director of Laboratory Services, who serves on the committee. They won’t support an organization that spends more than 20 percent on administration.

2011 already proves to be a very busy year with several activities already scheduled including Jazzoo!, Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, Forks & Corks, and many more in the works!
